 This's my journal. Sometimes it's got newsbits. Sometimes it's got stream-of-consciousness. Sometimes it's things I want to remember down the road a ways and sometimes it's things I need to know.

Some words about friending:
I friend people whom I think are interesting. Friending is not an indication of my deathless interest in you. I might friend you because you write about fun topics, because I know you iRL and want to keep up with your life, because I know you well in other internet places, because you make me laugh.
I don't care if you friend me back or not. I make no claims to knowing how interesting my writing on life is. It's probably pretty whiny if you don't care about me personally, or even if you do. I'm not going to sit around and monitor how many of the people I friended returned the interest -- it's not worth my time. I do get that warm little glow at being friended, but I'm not going to pitch a hissyfit if it doesn't happen -- I may not even notice.
If I de-friend you, it's not because I'm no longer your friend -- after all, I never friendslock posts, so it's not like all my stuff isn't still right there for you to read on your own friends-list. It's because your life isn't interesting to me, or because my list got too big, or because I can't remember who you are. None of those are flattering reasons, but for the most part they aren't exactly personal; I can't sit here all day reading LJ posts. If you bore me, I won't read your work; it's that simple. If that bothers you, you might want to think about why someone would be bored by reading your writing, or you could just brush it off and remind yourself that other people still want to know about your life -- one little Panya de-friending you should not break your ego. |
